Occupational Therapy is a scientifically grounded profession rooted in the belief that engaging in meaningful activities is crucial for maintaining health and overall well-being. "Occupations" in this context refer to the diverse spectrum of daily activities that hold significance and purpose in an individual's life - commonly known as activities of daily living.
These encompass routine tasks such as brushing your teeth, preparing meals, dressing, taking a walk, learning relaxation techniques, or returning to employment. The inability to perform these activities has been scientifically demonstrated to contribute to deteriorating health and various challenges. Occupational therapy is designed to address these barriers and enhance your health by restoring you to optimal levels of activity. Essentially, the core philosophy revolves around the understanding that participating in purposeful occupations is fundamental to sustaining a healthy and fulfilling life. Basically, occupation is life!
